Every Apple product comes with their own individual IMEI number, and an iPhone comes with a unique IMEI which is different from the IMEI. The IMEI number is a cellular phone’s unique ID, but to keep track of Apple manufactured products the company has equipped their iPhones with a very unique IMEI number for each device. This number could come to handful of purpose like advertising the device for sale, signing up for a device insurance policy, submitting the handset to an authorized Apple service center etc. There are several different ways of doing this, and we have explained them all.

If your device functional, the IMEI number could be found by using the device. iOS system is updated with all the necessary information a user might need including the device identities like IMEI and serial number, and the user can navigate to them via Settings.

  2. On the screen that appears, scroll down a little bit until you find ‘IMEI Number’.

Apple engraves the serial number in the rear panel or SIM tray of almost every Apple device. This started from the original iPhone, and every other Apple product has it ever since till the iPhone 5 generation. The later generations omitted the engraved serial number though, because of the reduction in SIM tray size.

How to Find iPhone IMEI number from the Packaging

Do you still have your Apple device’s packaging? If you do, you are in luck finding the product’s serial number. Typically in the packaging, the serial number is posted on the sticker with a barcode, alongside a brief specification of the product. For the iPhone and iPad boxes, the sticker should have the IMEI number as well.

For Bricked iPhones with Previous Backups

If your iPhone is bricked for some reason and you have to submit it to some authenticated repair shop, the serial number is needed. The number could be found in a previously stored backup file. Open iTunes and click on Preferences. Then, click Devices and the new window will show available backups on the system, along with their phone number, IMEI number and serial number.
